This is why the success of a game like Witcher 3 is so important. Without hard numbers it's difficult to prove that sales are affected in a positive or negative way. I will give some credit to Denuvo because its function is usually invisible to the end user (as long as you periodically connect to the internet and the authentication servers aren't down) but I don't believe that its presence affects sales in any meaningfully positive way. I don't believe that the increased sales of PC games have anything to do with the effectiveness of any DRM schemes. It is for this reason that some people express the opinion that DRM is good for the indusrty in general and the PC gaming industry in particular. Lots of games are achieving good sales on PC and it has been argued that DRM schemes like Denuvo have contributed to that fact because they're harder to crack and as such they can offer developers a period of time during which their games remain uncrackable. Lately there's been a lot of talk about the supposed role of DRM in increasing game sales on PC.
